Second Lieutenant, Temporary Captain,  Henry Arthur TAYLOR, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (27th Squadron, Royal Flying Corps), killed in action, 27th September 1916, age 18.

Eldest son of Frederick Henry and Agnes Mundell Taylor, of Vineyard Hill, Wimbledon, London / 12 Tite Street, Chelsea, SW3.

Educated at Charterhouse and Sandhurst.

Went to the front at the end of April, 1916, and joined the R.F.C. In August he was awarded the Military Cross; September 25th, 1916, promoted flight commander and temporary captain; September 27th 1916, shot down while leading a patrol against a largely superior enemy formation.

Buried at Mory Abbey Military Cemetery,  III. E. 5., Mory, France.

Military Wing.—The under mentioned appointments are made: 

Flying Officers. 1st April, 1916 - 2nd Lt. H. A. Taylor, Royal West Kent Regiment, and to be seconded.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to confer the Military Cross on the under mentioned Officers and Warrant Officers, in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the field:

2nd Lt. Henry Arthur Taylor, R. W. Kent R. and R.F.C. - For conspicuous gallantry when on a bombing raid in unfavourable weather with Lt. Boyd and two other pilots. He descended to less than 1,000 feet and bombed a train, derailing several trucks.
