Educated at George Watson's College, Edinburgh & Kings College, London, (1907, in the Faculty of Science), & after wards went to the National Gymnasium in Stockholm.

December 1914, granted a commission in the Devonshire Regiment; November 1915; 5th October 1915, posted BEF & transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment.

Buried at Dranoutre Military Cemetery, I. F. 19., Belgium & commemorated at Kings College.
