AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS

Temporary 2nd Lieutenant Charles William Loudoun, attached Royal West Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Under heavy sniping and machine gun fire he attacked and cleared an enemy dug out which was holding up the advance and captured eight prisoners. He showed the greatest gallantry and initiative during an enemy bombardment after the capture of the objective.
