Enlisted  Fulham, SW, age 44 years & 27 days, height 5ft 2½ inches, weight 110lbs, ship & coat of arms upper arm, trace of tattoo left forearm, sailor right calf, woman left ? calf, scar forehead, eyes blue, hair iron grey. Formerly painter. Remitted ⅓ of his pay to support his wife and children from the time of his enlistment.

8th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent  Regiment; 12th September 1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent  Regiment; 14th September 1914, appointed Lance Corporal; 9th October 1914, promoted Corporal; 27th May 1915, appointed Lance Sergeant; 26th September 1915, posted missing.

12th June 1916, pension awarded of 27/6 a week to widow and five children, 15 Bridport Street, Marylebone, W.

9th March 1920, Metropolitan Police, Crawford Place Station, report from Sgt W Stoneham - "I beg to report having made enquiries at 28 Bowmans Building, and find that no on e of the above name had resided there for the past two years. Their present whereabouts was unknown to the caretaker. as a result of further enquiries I have traced the eldest daughter now Mrs Oddy, to 5 Dudley Street, Paddington, W2. She proved her identity by documents. Mrs Danary, wife of deceased  soldier, died of cancer about August 1918."
