Enlisted Lewisham, SE, age 24 years & 123 days, height 5ft 7⅝ inches, weight 142lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, fair hair.  Resided Gosport, Hampshire. Formerly cowman.

Home, 8th September 1914 to 29th August 1915; BEF, 30th August 1915 to 27th June  1916.

8th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th September1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th October 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 9th June 1915, promoted Corporal; 30th August 1915, posted BEF & embarked; 30th November 1915 to 7th December 1915, furlough.
