Husband of Rose McDonald (nee Readings). Married 13th March 1915, Registry Office Edmonton.

6th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th July 1915, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th August 1915, posted BEF & 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th July 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 29th August 1916, reverts to Private at own request; 9th July 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 3rd May 1917, appointed paid Lance Corporal; July 1917, wounded gassed shell; 15th September 1917, posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th April 1918, declared "no longer physically fit for War Service"; 3rd May 1918 sent home to 64 Hawthorn Road, Upper Edmonton, N8, to await discharge, give £1 advance, a suit of plain clothes and an overcoat;
21st May 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued.
Pension of 27/6 a week, for 4 weeks from 22nd May 1918, then 22/-, to be reviewed in 48 weeks.
