Born Galashiels, Roxburghs, son of James and Margaret Leitch.

7th June 1913, Provident Chapel, Leeds, Yorkshire, married Lilian Smith, spinster, (born 23rd November 1890).

Enlisted Guiseley, Yorkshire, age 28 years, 8 months, height 5ft 9 inches.  Resided 1 Greenshaw Terrace, Guiseley, Yorkshire, Leeds /  1 Well View, Guiseley, Leeds, Yorkshire / 2, Wells Road., Guiseley, Leeds, Yorkshire. Formerly engineers, overlooker, woolen mill.

Home 7th December 1915 to 14th August 1917; BEF 15th August 1917 to 12th October 1917.

7th December 1915, enlisted; 8th December 1915, to Army Reserve; 21st October 1916, mobilized; 21st October 1916, posted Royal Army Service Corps, (Mechanical Transport), Service No.M/26640; 10th January 1917, joined 31st Training Reserve Battalion, Service No.TR/10/25493; 14th February 1917, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 6th March 1917, promoted Acting Corporal; 12th August 1917, Dover, overstaying his pass until 12.15pm 13th August 1917, admonished, forfeits one days pay; 13th August 1917, relinquished Acting rank on posting to BEF;  14th August 1917, embarked; 15th August 1917, Infantry Base Depot; 26th August 1917, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

13th May 1918, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to widow.

Commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial, Panel 106 to 108, Belgium.
