14th October 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th November 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 31st January 1915, Fort Darland, overstaying his pass from 12.00 midnight to 12 midnight 1st February 1915, awarded 14 days Field Punishment No.2.; 17th February 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th February 1915, 5 Infantry Base Depot; 26th February 1915, joined Battalion In the Field; 6th March 1915, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 18th April 1915, posted missing.
Undated letter from Mrs Hulbert, 24a Borrett Road, Manor Place, Walworth - "In answer to your last letter I refuse to answer or sign any forms unless you can give me a satisfactory answer concerning my husband, because you must now something about him wether he is dead or hot as I was given to understand that my separation allowance is only stopped when my husband is dead and now it is stopped what is the reason for it as my children and I want food & firing as we are without anything kindly forward on some money as soon as possible what do you mean by saying that my husband is not dead because it seems so funny you should have stopped my money all at once kindly forward back my husbands letters and all the other papers as I do not wish them to get lost."
14th December 1915, letter from Records Office to Mrs Hulberth, 24a Borrett Road, Manor Place, Walworth - "With reference to your letter, Separation Allowance ceases 30 weeks after your husband was notified to you as missing and Pension commences from then. As nothing further has been heard of your husband and the time has expired for the payment of Separation Allowance, you will not be able to draw pension until the form is properly filled in and your Marriage and Birth Certificates of your children are produced for inspection. Please fill in the form as requested, having your signature witnessed by a Magistrate, ad at No.7. the signature of a Police Officer not under the rank of Sergeant also attach your Marriage Certificate and the Birth Certificates of your children, which will be returned in due course."
11th January 1916, pension of 20/6 a week awarded from 13th December 1915, to widow and three children, 72 Brisbane Street, Camberwell, SE.
Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 and 47, Belgium.
