Lance Corporal Joseph BIGNELL, L/9726, 2nd  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  died of dysentery, whilst a Prisoner of War in Hospital at Yarbaschi, Turkey, 10th September 1916.

Home 3rd November 1911 to 18th December 1913; 19th December 1913 to 31st January 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force "D", 1st February 1915 to 10th September 1916.

3rd November 1911, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th December 1911, awarded 3rd Class Certificate of Education; 6th March 1912, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th December 1913, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th April 1914, Dalhouse, falling out from fatigue without permission, 7 days confined to Barracks; 12th May 1914, Dalhouse, having a dirty rifle on guard mounting Parade, 2 extra guards; 7th October 1914, passed examination in Pushtee; 23th March 1915, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 13th September 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal.

Buried at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, XXI.R.19., Iraq. Commemorated Eastbourne Roll of Honour
