Previously served with Royal West Kent Regiment, time expired 25th August 1909.
Enlisted Newcastle, Co. Durham, age 34. Resided 112 Brighton Road, Bensham, Gateshead, Co. Durham.
29th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th October 1914, posted 3rd? Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th October 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 11th October 1914, neglect of duty when in charge of a Block House, reprimanded; 7th January 1915, overstaying his pass, severely reprimanded, forfeits 2 days pay; 1st February 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 22nd April 1915, posted BEF; 23rd April 1915, landed 5 Infantry Base Depot; 25th April 1915, joined Battalion, "C" Company; 15th May 1915, appointed Acting paid Lance Corporal; 22nd July 1916, posted wounded & missing.
