10th December 1915, enlisted Rochester, Kent, age 24, height 5ft 9 inches, formerly labourer; 11th December 1915, to Army Reserve; 8th April 1916, mobilized & posted Depot / 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th July 1916, Infantry Base Depot; 15th July 1916, posted 5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 26th November 1916, appointed Acting Corporal; 12th February 1917, reverts to paid Lance Corporal; 9th April 1917, appointed Acting Corporal; 5th May 1917, wounded, gun shot wound, right leg fractured.
