Born Kings Lynn, Norfolk, enlisted 12th February 1916, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, age 18, height 5ft 3 inches, weight 136lbs. resided 22 Langham Street, Wisbech Road, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Formerly labourer.

12th February 1916, enlisted; 13th February 1916 to Army Reserve; 7th June 1916, mobilized; 8th June 1916, posted Royal Fusiliers, PS11138; 1st September 1916, posted Training Reserve Battalion, TR/10 60791; 15th September 1916, transferred to East Kent Regiment, 1st Battalion, Buffs, G/18700; 15th March 1919, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment, 32010; 30th May 1919 to 13th June 1919, leave to England; 23rd June 1919, 47 General Hospital arthritis; 18th August 1919, transferred to UK; 20th August 1919, posted Depot, Royal Wst Kent Regiment; 30th August 1919 to 3rd September 1919, Netley Hospital, arthritis, transferred to Military Hospital, Cosham; 3rd September 1919, Cosham Hospital, arthritis, recommended for discharge as permanently unfit; 22nd September 1919, Cosham Military Hospital appeared before a Medical Board and was found unfit for further service.

Date & Origin of disability May 1919, France, Went to France September 1916 was in the trenches, exposed and cold and wet, had trench fever three times, last attack April 1918 was severe with pains in joints. Five weeks in 56 General Hospital, 6 weeks convalescence. Returned to Unit July 1918 and remained until May 1919, went to 47 General with swelling in joints, 9 weeks in hospital, invalided home 30 ????? 1919, admitted Netley, sent Cosham.

26th September 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued

Pension of 8/3 a week for 30 weeks. Attributable 20%. Expires 27th April 1920. Medical report 18th February 1920, less than 20%, 5/6 a week from 28th April 1920 to 26th April 1921, final.
