Private Arthur Edward SALTER, G/18150, 11th  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds on admission, (shell wound, both legs amputated), 10 Casualty Clearing Station, France, 20th September 1917, age 27.

Born Geldeston, Norfolk, son of Arthur & Anna Maria Salter,  Benhall Green, Saxmundham, Suffolk.

Enlisted Saxmundham, Suffolk, age 26 years & 2 months, height 5ft 10½ inches, weight 140lbs. Resided Saxmundham, Suffolk. Formerly horseman.

Home 11th December 1915 to 26th August 1916; BEF 27th August 1916 to 14th March 1917; Home 15th March 1917 to 31st August 1917; BEF 1st September 1917 to 20th September 1917.

11th December 1915, enlisted; 12th December 1915, to Army Reserve; 8th April 1916, mobilized & posted 3/1 Suffolk Yeomanry, (Duke of York's Own Loyal Suffolk Hussars), Service No.2619; 27th August 1916, Folkestone, embarked; 27th August 1916, Boulogne, disembarked; 28th August 1916, 15 Infantry Base Depot, posted 1/4th Suffolk Regiment; 7th September 1916, transferred to 4th Reserve Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th September 1916, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th March 1917, Rouen, 9th General Hospital myalgia; 14th March 1917, to England per Hopsital Ship "St David" myalgia; 15th March 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 15th March 1917 to 4th April 1917, Eggington Hall, rheumatism; 4th April 1917 to 2nd May 1917, 5th Northern General Hospital, Leicester, rheumatism; 16th May 1917 to 23rd July 1917, Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham by Sea; 24th July 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th August 1917, Fort Horsted, overstaying his Expeditionary Force leave from Tattoo until 9.30pm 15th August 1917, deprived of 6 days pay, 7 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 3 days pay; 1st September 1917, posted BEF & 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 20th September 1917, wounded.
