9th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Service No.4856; 9th September 1914, transferred to 11th Army Cyclist Corps; 9th September 1914, posted 15th Army Cyclist Corps; 23rd December 1914, posted Divisional Company, Cyclist Corps; 24th March 1915, Stockbridge, creating a disturbance in billet after light out, not complying an order, using abusive & threatening language to an NCO, 48 hours detention, forfeits 2 days pay; 17th July 1915, posted TC; 13th November 1915, posted 41st; 26th November 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 21st January 1916, Aldershot, overstaying pass from 11.55pm till 10.00pm 22nd January, 22 hours, deprived of lance stripe; 6th March 1916, Aldershot, absent from Parade 3.00pm 4 days confined to Barracks; 20th May 1916, transferred to 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

25th February 1918, pension of 18/9 a week awarded to widow & one child.
Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 and 47, Belgium.
