7th November 1911, enlisted Maidstone, Kent, 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No. 8419, age 18 years & 6 months, height 5ft 2 inches, fresh complexion, brown eyes, light brown hair, birth mark front of right thigh. Formerly farm labourer. A well built sturdy lad. 1st Class shot at Musketry. 19th January 1912, 3rd Class Certificate of Education. Present at 912 Annual Training.

Home 29th August 1913 to 14th August 1914; BEF 15th August 1914 to 23rd April 1915.

Enlisted 29th August 1913, Maidstone, Kent, age 19 years & 5 months, height 5ft 3 inches, weight 116½lbs. Resided Paddock Wood, Kent. Formerly farm labourer.
