Private Alfred William George HAYLER, G/2660, 7th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds (shrapnel in face), Flanders France, 21st March 1916.

Born Brockham, Surrey, son of Alfred William & Emma Hayler, 10 Mark Street, Reigate, Surrey.

Formerly West Surrey Special Reserve, discharged March 1914 by purchase.

Enlisted  Reigate, Surrey, age 19, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 125lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark hair. Radical case of appendicitis, Aldershot. Formerly labourer.

7th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th October 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th July 1915, Colchester, overstaying his pass from midnight till 9.30pm 19th July, 4 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 11th August 1915, posted BEF & 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th August 1915, 18 Supply Base Depot, attached 12th Entrenching Battalion; 15th September 1915, joined Battalion, In the Field; 20th February 1916, 55 Field Ambulance, put under observation; 28th February 1916, 55 Field Ambulance, to duty;  20th March 1916, wounded, shrapnel in face.

Buried at Chipilly Communal Cemetery Extension, A. 12., France.
