Private Bertie PACKMAN, G/2736, 8th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, (received in action at Cambrai), at No.55, Casualty Clearing Station  Flanders France, 21st February 1918.

Born 23rd April 1893, Halling, Kent, eldest son of John William Packmam, (mariner), of 32 Cromer Road, Strood, Kent, by his wife Sarah Ann, (daughter of William Wraight of Faversham, Kent).

Educated Gordon Road School, Strood, Kent.

Enlisted  Greenwich, Kent, age 21 years & 180 days, height 6ft 0½ inch, weight 145lbs.  Resided 20 Commercial Street, East Greenwich, SE. Formerly grocers assistant.

Home 7th September 1914 to 29th August 1915; BEF 30th August 1915 to 21st February 1918.

7th September 1914, enlisted; 12th September 1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th August 1915, posted BEF.

20th February 1915, Greenwich, married Edith (Edie) Mary Ann Kenney, born 23rd February 1892.

Children - Nellie E Packman born September 1918,  died 1918, Greenwich, London.

27th February 1921, Christ Church, East Greenwich, London, Edith Mary Ann Packman, age 30, widow, 6 Christ Church Street, father John Kenney, deceased, Police Constable, married George Rose, age 22, bachelor , 6 Christ Church Street, father Thomas Herbert Rose, labourer.

Buried at Tincourt New British Cemetery, IV. F. 15., France.
