Private David Samuel BARNES, L/8182, "C" Company, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, (received in the Battle of the Aisne), France and Flanders, 24th October 1914.
Born 27th April 1888, Chelsfield, Bromley, Kent, son of the late David Barnes, 62 Simpson's Road, Bromley, Kent.
Enlisted November 1902. London; served 2 years at Home and six years in India with the 2nd Battalion; promoted Lance Corporal, joined the Reserve; called up on Mobilization 5th August 1914, attached to the 1st Battalion as a Private; served with the Expeditionary Force in France.
Resided Stoke Newington. Unmarried.
