Born St Georges, London, E, son of Nicholas & Mary Ann Spicer.

23rd September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 28th September 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st October 1914, Shoreham, overstaying his pass from 12 midnight 1st October till Reveille 4th October 1914, 3 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 3 days pay; 24th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th December 1914, Chatham, forfeits 16 days pay and deprived of 6 days pay, for absence, absent from 9.00pm, 25th December 1914 to 8.00am, 9th January 1915; 15th January 1915 to 19th January 1915, Fort Pitt Hospital, pediculi tubis;  14th March 1915, Chatham, awarded 7 days detention, forfeits 30 days pay for overstaying his pass from 9.30pm 14th March 1915 till surrendering to the Civil Police at Thames Police Station at 5.30pm, 12th April 1915, deficient of kit; 6th December 1915, Shoreham, absent from Tattoo, 15th November 1915, Shoreham, until apprehended by Civil Police at Shadwell 5th December, deficient of kit, 14 days detention, forfeits 21 days pay; 12th December 1915, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th December 1915, embarked; 12th January 1916, North Farm Field Ambulance, shrapnel wound back, to 10 Casualty Clearing station; 13th January 1916, 10 Casualty Clearing station, shrapnel wound back; 23rd January 1916, 10 Casualty Clearing station, died of wounds.

14th August 1916, pension of 23/- a week awarded to widow and three children.

Buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, II. B. 28., Belgium.

NOTE: Soldiers Died in the Great War shows Battalion as 8th; CWGC web site shows it as 5th.
