2nd June 1914, enlisted Woolwich, age 18 years & 335 days, height 5ft 2 inches, weight 123lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, several small scars, right forearm; Currently serving 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment. Formerly hammerman. 2nd June 1914, posted Depot, Army Service Corps, Service No.T33998; 30th June 1914 to  29th August 1914, Woolwich Hospital, perforation left tympanic membrane, old case with chronic discharge; 22nd September 1914, discharged as "not being likely to become an efficient soldier". Perforation left membrane tympanic (ruptured ear drum)

13th July 1915, applied for re-enlistment.

Enlisted  Bromley, Kent, age 20 years & 1 month, height 5ft 2 inches, weight 133lbs, fit for Home Service only.  Resided Fulchers Buildings, St Mary Cray, Kent.  Formerly shoeing smith.

Separation Allowance, 2/5 a week, Allotment of Pay 3/6 a week.

18th July 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th July 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th September 1915, Chatham, absent from 9.30pm until 9.35pm on 12th September, 5 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 3rd February 1916, Fort Darland, absent for Parading at Stables at 6.00am, 3 days confined to Barracks; 27th August 1916, Fort Darland, overstaying his pass when under orders for a draft, 10 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 5th September 1916, posted BEF; 5th September 1916, Infantry Base Depot; 17th September 1916, posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

Buried at Dickebusch New Military Cemetery Extension, III. A. 17., Belgium.
