Private Frederick John BATCHELOR, G/1059, 6th  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  killed in action, Flanders, France,  death presumed on or after 3rd July 1916, age 18.

Born Ide Hill, Sevenoaks, Kent, son of John and Mary Elizabeth Batchelor, of "Gertrudenburg", Ide Hill, Sevenoaks. Kent / 4 Mount Pleasant, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks. Kent.

Enlisted  Tonbridge, Kent, age 19, height 5ft 6½ inches. Formerly labourer. Resided Yorks? Farm, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks. Kent.

Home 4th September 1914 to 14th June 1915; BEF 15th June 1915 to 3rd July 1916.

4th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th September 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st April 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st May 1915, Chatham, absent from Tattoo until Tattoo on 2nd inst,  7 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 15th June 1915, posted BEF & 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th June 1915, joined Battalion; 8th November 1915, wounded; 13th November 1915, returned to Duty; 3rd July 1916, posted missing.

Commemorated at  Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C,  Somme, France & St Mary Church, Ide Hill, Kent.
