Son of James & Jessie Dempster, 121 Silward Street, Rotherhithe, London, Surrey.
Home, 19th January 1914 to 6th December 1914; BEF, 7th December 1914 to 11th JUly 1915; Home, 12th July 1915 to 22nd December 1915.
19th January 1914, enlisted & posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th August 1914, mobilized; 10th to 17th November 1914, forfeits 4 days pay, deprived of 8 days pay by Commanding Officer for absence; 7th December 1914, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th June 1915, wounded; 25th September 1915, posted Garrison Company, Royal West Kent Regiment.
22nd December 1915, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
1st March 1926, letter from National Association for Employment of Regular Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen - "I beg to inform you that the above named who was employed as Auxiliary Postman (Walworth) London was Bound over for 12 months in £5 on the 2-1-26 at the Lambeth Police Court for theft from the post. This man obtained his employment in the Post Office through a London Employment Exchange".
