Enlisted Poplar, Middlesex, age 20 years & 204 days, height 5ft 3 inches, weight 116lbs, fresh complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, scar left shin and outside right knee, defective teeth.  Resided Shadwell, Middlesex. Formerly carman.

16th March 1915, enlisted; 6th April 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th April 1915, several extractions & fitting of dentures; 7th April 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 2nd May 1915, Chatham, When on active service, absent from Tattoo till 9.30pm on 3rd inst., 7 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 1 days pay; 23rd June 1915, Chatham, When on active service, absent from 4pm until 6pm 24th, 7 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 11th August 1915, Fort Darland, When on active service, 10 minutes late on 6.30am parade, 2 days confined to Barracks; 18th August 1915, Fort Darland, when on active service, overstaying his pass when marked for draft,. from Tattoo until Tattoo 19th inst, deprived 6 days pay, forfeits 2 days pay; 1st October 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment;  1st October 1915, posted BEF & embarked.
