Born Heckmondwyke, Yorkshire, enlisted Coventry, Warwickshire, resided  Coventry, Warwickshire. 

Son of John and Mary E. France, of 19, Birkhead St., Heckmondwyke, Yorkshire.

Commemorated at  Wimereux Communal Cemetery, VI.E.3., Pas de Calais, France.
