Enlisted  Maidstone, Kent, age 19 years & 10 months, height 5ft 6¾ inches, weight 157lbs.  Resided 53 Godinton Road, Ashford, Kent. Formerly baker.

24th October 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th November 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF; 3rd June 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal.

15th March 1918, Canterbury, Military Medal presented to father, on a Parade of the Depot East Kent Regiment by  Major S F Reeves, Commanding Depot, The Buffs.
