Private Hugh SHEPHERD, 18685, 10th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  (Secondary Regiment, Labour Corps, 591911), died at 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge, 15th October 1918, age 38.

1880, born Toddington, Bedfordshire, son of John & Sarah Shepherd.

5th April 1908, Toddington, Bedfordshire, Hugh Shepherd married Amelia Smith.

Children - Leonard Hugh Shepherd, born 29th August 1908; Thomas Thackray Shepherd, born 17th May 1910.


1911 Census - Princess Street, Toddington, Dunstable, Bedfordshire - Hugh Shepherd, head, age 30, married, journeyman butcher, butcher, worker, born Toddington, Bedfordshire; *Amelia Shepherd, wife, age 32, married 2 years, 2 children, both still alive, sewer straw bonnet, Straw Bonnet Factory, worker, at home, born Toddington, Bedfordshire; Leonard Hugh Shepherd, son, age 2, born Toddington, Bedfordshire; Thomas Thackray Shepherd, son, age 10 months, born Toddington, Bedfordshire.*born 5th July 1878.


Previously served 41408, Royal Fusiliers.

Enlisted Toddington, Bedfordshire. Resided Toddington, Bedfordshire.

Buried in Toddington Cemetery, 42. 153., Toddington, Bedfordshire. Commemorated Toddington Village War Memorial.
