Born Stourmouth, Kent, son of Stephen & Frances Souton, of Chalkpit Farm, Bekesbourne, Canterbury, Kent.

Enlisted Drill Hall, Canterbury, Kent, age 29 years, height 5ft 4½ inchers, weight 156lbs, scar operation below scapula. Resided Ickham Street, Canterbury, Kent. Formerly farm labourer.

14th May 1915, enlisted & posted 3/1 East Kent Mounted Rifles, Service No.2613; 15th June 1915, transferred to 2/1 East Kent Mounted Rifles; 18th June 1915, Maresfield, medically examined; 21st September 1916, embarked; 22nd September 1916, Etaples. 38th Infantry Base Depot, France; 11th October 1916, transferred to 4th Reserve Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th October 1916, posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th October 1916, joined Battalion, In the Field; 15th January 1917, 3 Canadian Casuakly Station.
