29th January 1917, called up; 2nd February 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th April 1917, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st June 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.
19th February 1918, Bradford War Hospital, sent to his home with £1 advance, a suit of plain clothes and an overcoat, to await discharge which was approved by the Medical Board on 29th January 1918.
19th February 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
Pension, 27/6 a week from 20th February 1918 for 4weeks, then 16/6 a week for 22 weeks, to be reviewed in 26 weeks.
