20th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th September 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th August 1915, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 17th October 1915, wounded; 6th October 1916, wounded & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th June 1918, 2nd Northern General Hospital, Beckett Park, Leeds.

1st July 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension 27/6 a week for 4 weeks, then 11/- for 35 weeks conditional.
