14th September 1916, Tarsous - "Dear Mum & Dad, Just a few lines to let you know what has happened to stop me writing. I was taken prisoner on the 29th April 1916 and have only had one opportunity of writing, before this I sent you a postcard but I do not think they went. I am in fairly good health and resting at an American Mission where the people are very kind to us. I have had a lot of fever lately, but am now going on well. I hope that Will & Sed are still safe and the Reg, Alf, Sep & the two girls are quite well & Yoursel & Dad in the best of health. Do not worry about me. and don't answer this as I shall be leaving here as soon as I am strong enough. Give my regards to everyone, Kiss Jess & Blanche for me. This is all I can write, from your ever loving son Sid. God bless you all. Hoping to be home when the War finishes."

29th March 1917?, date when allotment of pay of 4d a week payable to mother will cease.

12th May 1920, Director of Graves Registration reports that the above named soldiers grave has been located. Death officially accepted as having occurred between 14th September 1916 & 31st December 1916.

Died a Prisoner of War, 29th September 1916 at Tarsous.
