19th September 1908, St Mary's Church, Wiston, Sussex, John Thomas  Franks, married Annie Keeling, spinster. Witnesses - Percy Franks, Ellen Franks.

Children - Jack William George Franks, born 7th June 1909, Cuckfield; Leslie James Franks, 18th December 1911, Cuckfield; Dorothy Elizabeth, born 25th May 1915, Sevenoaks.

Enlisted  Edenbridge, Kent, age 33 years & 42 days, height 5ft 9 inches, weight 145lbs, fresh complexion, good eyes, light brown hair. Resided The Moat, Cowden, Edenbridge, Kent / High Street, Cowden, Edenbridge, Kent. Formerly carman.

Home 8th November 1914 to 29th August 1915; BEF 30th August 1915 to 26th September 1915.

8th November 1914, enlisted; 11th November 1914, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th November 1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th November 1914, Application for Discharge of a recruit as not likely to become an efficient soldier, hammer toes, recommended for discharge; 30th August 1915, posted BEF & embarked; 26th September 1915, posted missing.

12th June 1916, pension of 20/6 a week awarded to widow & three children.

7th? August 1920, widow living at 17 Lutener Road, ????, Midhurst, Sussex.

Commemorated at  Loos Memorial, Panel 95 to 97, Pas de Calais, France.
