Born St Peters, Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex, son of Charles John Ellis, 11 Salisbury Road, Bexhill, Sussex.

Brother - Charles George Thomas Ellis.

Previously served 2nd Home Counties, Royal Engineers, Territorial Force.

Enlisted Eastbourne, Sussex, age 21, height 5ft 4½ inches, weight 127lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair. Formerly porter.

Home 18th September 1912 to 20th October 1913; India, 21st October 1913 to 31st January 1915; On Board ship, 1st February 1915 to 5th February 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force "D", 6th February 1915 to 24th July 1915.

18th September 1912, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th February 1913, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd October 1913, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment;

Buried at Basra War Cemetery, II. R. 11., Iraq.
