Son of Martin and Mary Ryan.

Enlisted Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, age 38 years , height 5ft 6¾ inches.  Resided Model Lodging House, Fore Street, Ipswich, Suffolk. Formerly labourer.

Next of Kin, (brother), Richard Ryan, Upper Abbey Gate Street, Galway, Ireland. Sister - Bridget Ryan, Claremorris, County Mayo. Brothers - Thomas Ryan, Francis Ryan, James Ryan.

Home 25th May 1916 to 29th August 1916; BEF 30th August 1916 to 7th October 1916.

25th May 1916, Called up for Service & posted 27th (Reserve) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, Service No.2851; 1st September 1916, embarked; 2nd September 1916, 39th Infantry Base Depot; 2nd September 1916, posted 22nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers; 13th September 1916, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th September 1916, posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th September 1916, joined Battalion, In the Field; 7th October 1916, posted missing.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.
