Born Harlow, Essex, son of Arthur Trott.

15th May 1913, Wootton, Oxfordshire, Sydney James Trott, age 31, bachelor, gamekeeper, Witley, Surrey, father Arthur Trott, deceased, married Florence Emily Day, age 25, spinster, Wootton, father John Day, butcher.

Enlisted Godalming, Surrey, age 34 years & 11 months, height 5ft 7½ inches, weight 122lbs.  Resided Park Lane, Brook, Godalming, Surrey. Formerly game keeper.

Home 11th December 1915 to 6th October 1916; BEF 7th October 1916 to 1st October 1917.

11th December 1915, enlisted; 12th December 1915 to Army Reserve; 3rd June 1916, mobilized; 4th June 1916, posted; 5th June 1916, posted 12th  Battalion, Royal West Surrey (Queens) Regiment), Service No.G/13823; 1st September 1916, transferred & posted to 97th Training Reserve Battalion, Service No.TR/10/32513; 7th October 1916, posted BEF; 7th October 1916, embarked; 7th October 1916, posted Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1916, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1916, joined 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, In the Field; 18th November 1916, 12 D.R.S. bronchitis; 1st October 1916, rejoined Battalion.

29th April 1918, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to widow.

Buried at Windmill British Cemetery, I. E. 14., Monchy-le-Preux, Pas de Calais, France. Commemorated Hatfield Heath War Memorial.
