2nd December 1915, enlisted into 4th Battalion, Yorkshire & Lancashire Regiment, 204519, & posted Army Reserve; 19th March 1917, mobilized; 6th July 1917, embarked Folkestone, Kent; 7th July 1917, disembarked Boulogne, joined 34th Infantry Base Depot, Etaples; 22nd July 1917, transferred to 3/4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th April 1918, 43 Field Ambulance, wounded, gun shot wound chest; 11th April 1918, 2nd Stationery Hospital, Abbeville, died of wounds.
1st October 1918, pension of 33/- a week awarded to widow & four children.
20th October 1918, date to which separation allowance of 31/- a week will be paid.
Buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension, IV.A.3., Somme, France.
