Born Penge, Kent, called up, 9th April 1918, age 39, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 119lbs. Formerly beaterman.

Home, 9th April 1918 to 5th August 1918; BEF, 6th August 1918 to 27th August 1918; Home, 28th August 1918 to 2nd December 1918.

9th April 1918, called up for Service; 10th April 1918, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th August 1918, posted BEF; 7th August 1918, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & embarked Folkestone; 10th August 1918, joined 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd August 1918, wounded, admitted 56 Field Ambulance, 41 Casualty Clearing Station; 24th August 1918, Havre, No.2 General Hospital; 27th August 1918, transferred to UK on St Davis; 28th August 1918, War Hospital, Huddersfield, small wound over position of femoral artery in  Hunters Canal, which healed normally; 22nd September 1918, War Hospital, Huddersfield, there is a distinct swelling over the wound with pulsation and a loud ????. Under ether, wound opened up, blood clot cleared out and both ends of artery tied. Some drop foot, splint applied, up and about, massage and electrical treatment.

22nd November 1918,Huddersfield War Hospital,  Medical Board Report -  wounded, 23rd August 1918,  Albert, France, gun shot wound, (machine gun bullet), left thigh. There was a gun shot wound of left thigh, an aneurism developed after removal to this hospital. When in France the gun shot wounds were ????? and ?????, then sent to 2nd General Hospital ??? and then to England. Present condition, slight drop foot and man complains of numbness in great toe and second toe. Disability 100%, recommend for discharge as permanently unfit.

2nd December 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
