Private  Wilfred Ernest BROADLEY, L/11448, 6th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of gun shot wound to the pelvis, at St Hilaire Field hospital, whilst Prisoner of War, Flanders France,  3rd December 1917.

Born 23rd October 1898, London, Middlesex, son of James Leonard & Martha Broadley, of 14, Upper High St., Winchester.

Enlisted Maidstone, Kent, age 18 years, 78 days, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 110lbs, fresh complexion, brown eyes, dark hair.  Resided 63 Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent. Formerly labourer.

9th January 1917, enlisted; 11th January 1917, Maidstone, posted Depot Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th January 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th February 1917, Rochester, irregular conduct in his billet, 10 days confined to Barracks and pay for damage; 21st February, Rochester, having a dirty rifle and bayonet on the 8.00am parade, 7 days confined to Barracks; 8th March 1917, Rochester, not being shaved on 8.00am parade, 3 days confined to Barracks; 26th March 1917, Rochester, being dirty on the 8.00am parade, 7 days confined to Barracks; 31st March 1917, Rochester, being absent from defaulters parade, 6, 7, 8 & 9pm, 5 days Field Punishment No.2.; 7th April 1917, Fort Horsted, being absent from 9.30 parade until 9.30 on 8th, 5 days confined to Barracks, forfeits 2 days pay; 21st April 1917, Fort Horsted, awarded 21 days detention by Commanding Officer for being in possession of kit belonging to other men, to detention barracks Fort Clarence; 15th May 1917, Fort Horsted, committing a nuisance in the Company lines, 10 days Field Punishment No.2.; 18th May 1917, Fort Horsted, having dirty buttons on the 8.15am parade whilst undergoing Field Punishment, 1 day Field Punishment No.1. & punishment diet; 22nd May 1917, Fort Horsted, having a dirty rifle on the 6.00am parade whilst undergoing Field Punishment, 7 days Field Punishment No.2.; 2nd June 1917 absent from 9.30pm parade until 9.30pm 3rd, 7 days Field Punishment No.2. forfeits 2 days pay; 14th June 1917, not being shaved and having dirty equipment on the 6.00am parade, 14 days detention at detention barracks Fort Clarence; 27th June 1917, from detention barracks; 28th June 1917, to Duty; 11th July 1917, Fort Horsted, having a dirty rifle in his tent, 3 days confined to Barracks; 21st July 1917, Fort Horsted, absent from rifle inspection, 5 days confined to Barracks; 26th July 1917, Fort Horsted, when a defaulter, absent from tattoo until found in his bed at Reveille, on 27th July, 4 days confined to Barracks; 29th July 1917, Fort Horsted, breaking out of camp when a defaulter and remaining absent until found in his bed at Reveille 30th, 168 hours detention; 30th August 1917, Fort Horsted, absent from the 9.30 parade, 10 days confined to Barracks; 12th October 1917, Fort Horsted, absent from parade from 2pm to 6pm 12 October & failing to salute an officer, 10th October 1917, 7 days Field Punishment No.2.& forfeits 4 days pay; 22nd October 1917, posted BEF; 25th October 1917, embarked; 28th October 1917, Etaples 40 Infantry Base Depot; 9th November 1917, joined Battalion, "C" Company; 30th November 1917 posted missing; 3rd December 1917, died of gun shot wound to the pelvis, at St Hilaire Field hospital, whilst Prisoner of War.

Buried 4th December 1917, in the Cemetery by the St Hilaire Road, grave No.6. Commemorated at St Aubert British Cemetery, III.B.16., Panel 8, Nord, France.
