Private Walter JOHNSTON, 205923, 6th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly 2468, Durham Light Infantry), died of wounds, Flanders France, 18th September 1918, age 36.

Born Shildon, Durham, son of Benjamin and Mary Ann Johnston, of Shildon, Durham.

Northern Eastern Railway, Shildon, wagon repairer.

1904 June, Auckland Registration District, Walter *Johnston, married Annie Adelaide Young, of 40, Charles St., Shildon, Co. Durham.

* recorded as Johnson. 

Children - Benjamin Johnston, born 29th September 1904, Shildon, Durham; Clara Johnston, born 19th May 1908, Shildon, Durham; Ethel Annie Johnston, born 1912 March, Auckland Registration District.

19th April 1915, enlisted Bishop Auckland, Durham.

Buried at Saulcourt Churchyard Extension, B. 8., Guyencourt-Saulcourt, France.
