Deemed to have enlisted 1st October1916, Maidstone, Kent, , called up 19th January 1917, age 37, height 5ft 9 inches, resided 47 Bower Street, Maidstone, Kent. Formerly semi skilled fitter (gas worker).

Previously served in ASC.

Husband of Alice Frances Durrant, (nee Tawney), 47 Bower Street, Maidstone, Kent. Married 22nd February 1908, Maidstone, Kent.

Children - Frederick Walter Durrant, born 14th July 1909, Maidstone, Kent; Evelyn Mary Durrant, born 19th November 1912, Maidstone, Kent.

1st October 1916, deemed to have enlisted; 19th January 1917, called up; 21st January 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd April 1917, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & BEF; 13th October 1917, Ypres, France, wounded, gun shot wound left leg (amputated below knee), and left hand; 17th October 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th October 1917, admitted to 4th Northern General Hospital; 28th January 1918, furlough granted pending admission to Rodehampton.

19th January 1918, Lincoln, Medical Report - Circular amputation of the left leg below the knee, at Casualty Clearing Station, 14th October 1917, admitted 18th October 1917, 4th Northern General Hospital, Circular amputation of the left leg below the knee, and a laceration wound of the left hand. 20th December 1917, re-amputation above the knee. Very little movement in the left hand.

27th September 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension 27/6 a week for 13 weeks, then 19/3 a week for 39 weeks, to be reviewed.

Disability, gun shot wound left hand & left thigh.
