London Gazette 15th November 1918.
His Majesty The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the under mentioned Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field:—
Sergeant B DAVIS, MM, L/8505, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. (Poplar E.)
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of the battalion signalling arrangements, which he carried out with excellent judgment and complete disregard of danger. Under machine-gun and artillery fire of the heaviest description, he distinguished himself by his courage and the resourceful way in which, with entire devotion to duty, he repaired the broken lines. His example inspired and stimulated his men to similar efforts, and it was largely owing to his work that communications were so successfully maintained.
