Corporal C ANDREWS, 2679, (Poplar, London, E. ), Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. AWARDS: DCM (Private at the time of the award) London Gazette 17th April 1918 For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He dressed and removed the wounded under heavy fire during an engagement and showed great courage and energy throughout. He has done valuable work during a long period. AWARDS: Clasp to DCM (Corporal at the time of the award) London Gazette 1st May 1918 For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on the enemy trenches. He did valuable work in carrying messages and attending to the wounded in the enemys wire during the raid. He carried back two wounded men under heavy shell fire and worked for several hours until all the wounded had been brought in. He set a splendid example of courage and self sacrifice.
