Born Mettingham, Suffolk, enlisted Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Son of James and Martha Bird, of 3, Vicarage Lane, Mettingham, Suffolk.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France.
