William LATTER was baptised 5th September 1791, Wateringbury, Kent.

In the Battle of Trafalgar (21st October 1805)  he served on the HMS Britannia, commanded by Captain Charles BULLEN. 

The ship was launched at Portsmouth Dockyard in 1762 and had 100 guns and a crew of 850. During the battle, HMS Britannia was in Nelsons Division, 10 crew were killed and 42 injured. 

William LATTER was 15 years old at the time of the battle when he was serving on HMS Britannia as Boy 3rd Class.

  William married Sarah STARTUP on 23 Apr 1820 in Wateringbury. Sarah was born in 1786. She was buried on 22 Aug 1836 in Wateringbury.

They had the following children:  

Charlotte LATTER was born on 06 Aug 1820 in Wateringbury.

George LATTER was born on 27 Jul 1823.

Frances LATTER was born on 27 Mar 1825 in Hoo.

William LATTER was born on 13 May 1827 in Wateringbury.

Thomas Moses LATTER was born on 28 Mar 1830 in Wateringbury.  

William was buried on 25 Mar 1830 in Wateringbury, Kent
