Previously served Royal Marine Light Infantry & in Royal West Kent Regiment, 4th Infantry Company, 5th Battalion, (Territorial Force, Service No.8720), from 23rd October 1914 to 21st April 1915. 

Enlisted Chatham, Kent, age 22 years & 10 months. Resided The Haven, Canada Road, Walmer, Kent. Formerly bus conductor, with British Automobile Traction Company.

Home 21st April 1915 to 11th May 1915; BEF 12th May 1915 to 31st October 1915; Home 1st November 1915 to 14th February 1916; Indian Expeditionary Force, 15th February 1916 to 24th August 1916; Home 25th August 1916 to 26th February 1917.

21st April 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th May 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; *3rd July 1915 to 28th September 1915, 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge then transferred to Eastbourne Convalescent Home; 1st November 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 15th February 1916, posted Indian Expeditionary Force & 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th Augustv1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th February 1917, discharged, no longer physically fit for War Service.

15th December 1919, Kings Certificate No.6075 sent to G L Foam esq, 10B The Street, Willesborough, near Ashford, Kent.

Buried at Ashford (Willesborough) Cemetery, Q. 697., United Kingdom. Commemorated at St Mary the Virgin, Willesborough, Kent
