10th December 1915, enlisted; 11th December 1915 to Army Reserve; 6th June 1916, mobilized; 7th June 1916, posted 14th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment; 12th August 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 1st September 1916, transferred to 24 Training Reserve; 4th November 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 19th November 1916, posted BEF & transferred to 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 28th November 1916, promoted Corporal; 10th May 1917, wounded to England; 12th May 1917, Dundee War Hospital, gun shot wound, right forearm, compound fracture ulna; 12th June 1917, Dundee War Hospital, re-admitted from Aux. Convalescent Hospital, wound still discharging, recommended for transfer to a London Hospital; 23rd June 1917, General Hospital Edmonton; 19th January 1918 to 28th January 1918, furlough from General Hospital, Edmonton; 28th January 1918, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.
14th May 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.
Pension, 30/- for 4 weeks then 6/- for 48 weeks, disability gun shot wound right forearm.
