7th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th July 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 9th May 1917, wounded; 10th May 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th June 1917, appointed Acting Corporal; 18th August 1917, confirmed in rank; 5th October 1917, posted Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham, by Sea, Sussex; 9th October 1917, Shoreham, Sussex, disobedience of Company Orders, reprimanded; 24th April 1918, wounded; 30th April 1918, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.
11th August 1919, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.
Pension, 6/- a week for 52 weeks conditional. Gun shot wound, right leg.
