Born Shoeburyness, Essex, enlisted 5th February 1914, Chatham, Kent, age 17, height 5ft 6¼ inches, weight 116lbs. Formerly coal porter.

Stepfather, Henry Taylor. Son of Elizabeth Peacock, 11 White Horse Hill, Chatham, Kent.

Home, 5th February 1914 to 5th January 1917; BEF, 6th January 1917 to 18th June 1917; Home, 19th June 1917 to 23rd February 1918.

5th February 1914, enlisted & posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th August 1914, mobilized; 8th August 1916,  appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 4th September 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 6th January 1917, posted BEF & 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th June 1917, 4L Field Ambulance, gun shot wound, scalp & left arm, gt toe right; 19th June 1917, transferred to England, ex 56 General Hospital, per Hospital Ship, Princess Eliza; 19th June 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th June 1917 to 4th October 1917, War Hospital, Epsom, wounds quite healed, much residual movement of wrist & fingers; Edinburgh War Hospital, 5th October 1917 to 23rd February 1918; 2nd February 1918, Medical Board, 70% disablement, recommended for discharge, requires outpatient orthopaedic treatment.

23rd February 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.
