18th March 1912, enlisted, 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 2nd June 1912 to 9th June 1912, Worthing, Private, 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th July 1913 to 10th August 1913, Seaford, Lance Corporal, 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th July 1914 to 4th August 1914, Salisbury, Lance Corporal,4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment ; 5th August 1914 to 14th December 1914, embodied Service, Lance Corporal, 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.
14th December 1915, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.
