Son of William Pilbin.

Home, 22nd June 1915 to 2nd May 1916; BEF, 3rd May 1916 to 22nd July 1916; Home, 23rd July 1916 to 31st July 1917; BEF, 1st August 1917 to 24th December 1917; Home, 25th December 1917 to 18th November 1918.

22nd June 1915, enlisted & posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd February 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF; 23rd July 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th October 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th January 1917, reverts to Private, own request; 1st August 1917, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th December 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th December 1917 to 12th February 1918, 3rd General Western Hospital, Cardiff; 11th May 1918, Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex, absent from 11.00am fatigue parade, 5 days confined to Barracks; 17th May 1918, Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex, breaking out of Camp when a defaulter & remaining absent until midnight 21st May, admonished.

18th November 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.
