Born Tonbridge, Kent, enlisted 10th August 1914, Drill Hall, Tonbridge, Kent, age 34, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 134lbs, resided 37 St Stephens Street, Tonbridge, Kent. Formerly painter / decorator.
Previously served 1st Volunteer Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, National Reserve, (2769).
Home, 10th August 1914 to 6th February 1916.
10th August 1914, enlisted & posted 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd June 1915, posted 3/4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.
8th December 1915, Medical Report, Tonbridge, Kent - disability, large varicocele, curvature of the spine. Origin, date & place unknown. Has no doubt had curvature of his spine from childhood - about 4 years ago in Tunbridge Wells General Hospital was operated on for hernia and varicocele, the latter is still very large. In the balls cannot see at all. Cause, constitutional. Does no marching, acts as Pioneer. Not caused by ordinary Military Service
6th February 1916, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.
Refused Pension, disability does not interfere with his ability to work.
